Meet Muppet: The UK’s Ugliest Dog with the Biggest Heart 🐶❤️

We’re thrilled to celebrate one of the most unique and lovable members of the Urban Paws family, Muppet, a 12-year-old Chinese Crested who has just been crowned the UK’s Ugliest Dog! With his perpetually lolling tongue, missing teeth, and unmistakable charm, Muppet has stolen hearts across the country.

The title was awarded in a nationwide competition organised by Parrot Print, culminating in a live final on ITV’s This Morning. Muppet, with his endearing “wonky” looks and radiant personality, outshone seven other finalists to take home the top spot. But for those who know him, it’s not just his looks that make him unforgettable—it’s his inner beauty.

Owner Bev Nicholson couldn’t be prouder of her special companion. “Muppet might look a bit different, but he’s beautiful inside and out,” she shared. “He’s not just a pink dog with a comb-over—he’s a loving, one-of-a-kind soul.”

Muppet’s win also comes with a special sense of legacy, as his brother Mugly won the World’s Ugliest Dog competition back in 2012. It seems being extraordinary runs in the family!

As part of his prize, Muppet enjoyed a luxury pamper session at a doggie spa. This included a mud bath to soothe his skin and a festive photoshoot to capture his unique charm.

Head judge Matt Dahan summed it up perfectly: “Muppet is both cute and ugly at the same time.” It’s this paradox that has made him such a star—not just in the competition but in the lives of everyone he meets.

The Chinese Crested breed has been thrust into the spotlight following the release of the 2024 blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. One of the film’s unexpected stars is Peggy, a Chinese Crested and Pug mix. She brings “Dogpool,” Deadpool’s quirky canine sidekick, to life on screen.

Peggy, Britain’s Ugliest Dog of 2023, stole the spotlight with her distinctive looks and big personality. She didn’t just land the role—she owned it. Ryan Reynolds loved her on-set antics, especially her over-the-top greetings, which brought plenty of laughs during filming.

Since the film’s release, the Chinese Crested has seen a surge in popularity. Many people have fallen in love with the breed’s unique aesthetic and affectionate nature.
